Widows Care is proud to announce the successful completion of a two-bedroom shelter makeover for one of the homeless widows we support. The widow had previously faced severe persecution after being falsely accused of witchcraft, leaving her vulnerable, displaced, and without protection. Thanks to the swift intervention of the Widows Care team and volunteers, she was rescued and provided with a safe and dignified living environment.
The renovation was made possible through funds raised during the July 29 Widows Care fundraising event, demonstrating the direct impact of community support and donor generosity. The completed shelter now offers a secure and stable home where the widow can live free from fear and regain a sense of safety and dignity.
Building on this achievement, Widows Care is preparing for the next phase of development: the construction of a five-bedroom emergency shelter to support more widows in need. This project is scheduled to begin after the rainy season, ensuring proper construction conditions and long-term sustainability.
We are deeply grateful to our supporters, volunteers, and Widows Care heroes who made this life-changing project possible. Together, we continue to build safety, hope, and protection for widows in Kono District.
