Widows Care Celebrates First Employment Opportunity for Team Member Memuna

Widows Care is proud to celebrate an important milestone with the employment of Memuna, our first officially supported worker through the Widows Care program.

After living as a widow for more than four decades without children, Memuna has faced long-term hardship and social exclusion. Through Widows Care’s livelihood support initiative, she has now been provided with her first paid job as a cleaner, marking a powerful step toward dignity, independence, and economic security.

Today, Memuna received her first payment, a meaningful moment that reflects Widows Care’s commitment to empowering widows through practical opportunities—not charity alone. This project demonstrates how access to work can restore confidence, purpose, and stability for women who have been marginalized for years.

As part of this initiative, Widows Care also connects widows with housekeeping and cleaning opportunities within the community. Individuals or households in need of a cleaner or compound caretaker are encouraged to contact Widows Care to support dignified employment for widows in need.

Widows Care strongly stands against harmful accusations and stigma. No woman deserves to be labeled or harmed by accusations of witchcraft. Through protection, shelter, and livelihood opportunities, we continue to advocate for dignity, safety, and respect for all widows.

This project represents another step forward in Widows Care’s mission to protect, empower, and uplift widows in Kono District.
